Liposuction

Lipolysis and liposuction are contour correction surgeries which are performed along with one another. Lipousction is applied to the people who are not satisfied with some parts of their body and whose skin maintains its elasticity. It can be applied to any part of the body including jowl, arms, waist, abdomen, thighs and legs. However, it is not a weight-loss surgery.

Genetically diet resistant fat deposits are present in some parts of the body. These parts are thighs, interior waist and knees in woman, and abdomen and waist in men. Liposuction is quite suitable for the people who cannot make these parts thinner no matter how hard they go on a diet.

Lipolysis is the process in which the exclusive adipose tissues in the areas of fat deposits are melted down using various methods. Lipolysis process is mechanically performed using tumescent technique in a conventional manner. Lipolysis process is called laser lipolysis when performed using laser energy, and called ultrasonic lipolysis (VASER) when performed using ultrasound energy. All three methods will create similar results. Op. Dr. Güray Yeşiladalı will decide which technique will be more suitable for you.

No matter what technique is used, the fats, which are melted using lipolysis, are drawn out of the body using small cannulas through a process called liposuction. If the removed fats are to be transferred to another part of the body, in other words, if fat injection will be performed, liposuction is performed manually. Otherwise, the vacuum devices remove the excessive adipose tissues away from the body.

Lipolysis and liposuction can be used as a complementary process to arm and leg plastic surgery, abdominoplasty or breast reduction. They are efficiently used to make arms and legs thinner in cases that there is no sagging skin.

Laser or ultrasound energy cannot be used for lipolysis if the fats, which is removed after liposuction, will be used as fat injections on other parts of the body. Conventional liposuction method would be the most suitable method in this case because the removed fats will survive in the injected areas if they receive as least damage as possible.

Regional liposuction is performed as a general or local anesthesia procedure through 1-cm cuts using specifically-produced devices. You can return to your daily life approximately 3 days after surgery. Use of corsets is required for 3 weeks in order to ensure a firm skin. These corsets do not restrict the daily life and they are similar to elastic swimsuits which can also be used with daily clothing.
